Thirty-five students have been chosen as the 2024-25 Syracuse University Remembrance Scholars. These scholarships, now in their 35th year, were established to honor the students who lost their lives in the tragic bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988.

The selection process for Remembrance Scholars is rigorous, with applicants submitting essays and reflective responses in various formats. The scholarships, valued at $5,000, are awarded based on scholarship, leadership, and community service.

Additionally, Cameron Colville and Anna Newbould have been selected as the 2024-25 Lockerbie Scholars, continuing the tradition of two students from Lockerbie studying at Syracuse University each year.

The Remembrance and Lockerbie Scholars play a crucial role in organizing the annual Remembrance activities at the University. Vice Chancellor Gretchen Ritter expressed pride in the scholars, stating, "They reflect the talent and promise of those students whose memories they honor."

The 2024-25 Remembrance Scholars come from various hometowns and pursue majors across different schools and colleges at Syracuse University. From policy studies to music education, the scholars represent a diverse range of academic disciplines and backgrounds.

These scholars will be recognized during a convocation in the fall, highlighting their academic achievements, leadership skills, and contributions to the University community.
