The Department of Public Safety (DPS) at Syracuse University, in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, is currently seeking feedback from the campus community regarding their experiences and perspectives on public and campus safety.

According to a statement by Laura Harrington, associate director for institutional effectiveness, the aim of the initiative is to gather input from students, faculty, and staff as their perspectives are considered crucial by DPS. Harrington emphasized, "Student, faculty and staff input is very important to DPS."

The feedback collection is being done through an online survey that has been open for over a week and has already received hundreds of responses. However, DPS is encouraging more participation to ensure a comprehensive understanding of campus experiences and concerns.

The survey, which will remain open until Monday, April 22, is expected to take between 5 to 15 minutes to complete, depending on individual experiences. It is assured that responses will be anonymized and collected in Qualtrics by Institutional Effectiveness, with only aggregated data being shared with DPS.

For those interested in participating or seeking further information, a reminder email containing a direct link to the survey has been sent out. Additionally, individuals can reach out to iea@syr.edu for any inquiries about the survey process or to request an alternative Word version.

In closing, Harrington stated, "DPS looks forward to learning how it can enhance efforts to provide a safe and welcoming community for all."
