Sport analytics students from Syracuse University have been making waves in national competitions this spring, showcasing their skills and knowledge in various events. According to Rodney Paul, the director of the sport analytics program, research and competition are key components of the program. Paul emphasized the program's commitment to excellence, stating, "We pride ourselves on being willing to compete with anyone at any time and to show off our work in competitive settings."

One of the highlights of the semester was Syracuse University's victory in the AXS National Collegiate Sports Analytics Championship in Dallas, Texas. The team, consisting of Nicholas Kamimoto, Collin Kneiss, Tyler Bolebruch, and Marissa Schneider, secured the title for the university for the second consecutive year. Kamimoto expressed their confidence in winning the team title, highlighting the team's exceptional work and performance in the competition.

David Falk, a noted sports agent and benefactor of Falk College, praised the sport analytics program at Syracuse University during a reception for the participating students. Falk commended the students for their achievements, likening their success to winning the triple crown in baseball. He expressed his admiration for the program, stating, "To me, that’s beyond incredible. This program, in my opinion—and our Chancellor (Kent Syverud) knows how I feel—is the crème de la crème of what Syracuse University can offer."

Danny Baris, a sport analytics major who excelled in undergraduate paper competitions, highlighted the practical skills gained through the program. Baris emphasized the program's focus on usable skills over theory, making the knowledge applicable in competitions. He also noted the importance of presentation skills, which set Syracuse students apart in various events.

Paul reiterated the program's emphasis on marketable skills, essential for graduates pursuing careers in the sports industry. He emphasized the diverse skills acquired through the program, including mathematics, coding, economic theories, and effective communication. Paul emphasized the relevance of these skills in today's job market across various industries.
