Heather E. Stauffer has recently taken on the role of editor-in-chief at Syracuse University Press (SU Press), bringing with her a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. Stauffer's background includes a position as a legal writer at Brown Immigration Law and a successful twelve-year tenure at the University of Nebraska Press, where she advanced from an intern to an acquisitions editor. Stauffer holds two master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in English and History, as well as the prestigious Addison E. Sheldon Fellowship in History.

Catherine C. Cocks, the director of Syracuse University Libraries’ SU Press, expressed her delight at Stauffer's arrival, stating, "We’re thrilled to have someone with Heather’s experience and passion join us at SU Press." Cocks highlighted Stauffer's valuable qualities, particularly noting her interest and enthusiasm for advancing the academic strategic plan of the press.

In response to her new position, Stauffer shared her sentiments, stating, “I’m excited and humbled to be joining such a distinguished and storied publishing program that is SU Press, and especially joining a team of dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues.” Stauffer also emphasized her eagerness to contribute to the collaborative environment fostered by the Press, both locally and internationally, as they continue to move forward in their endeavors.

With Stauffer's appointment, SU Press anticipates progress in various areas, including expanding experiential learning opportunities for students, strengthening their publications list, amplifying their commitment to publishing previously marginalized voices, and enhancing their involvement in open access initiatives. Stauffer's blend of expertise and passion is poised to invigorate SU Press as they navigate the future of academic publishing.
